Rediscover Strength and Serenity

Yoga for Seniors at SCS

At Seniors’ Community Services, we believe that aging doesn’t mean slowing down—it means moving smarter, caring for your body, and finding balance in new and empowering ways.

That’s why our Beginner Hatha Yoga for Seniors and Chair Yoga classes are designed specifically with you in mind. Whether you're looking to improve your flexibility, reduce pain, build strength, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment in your week, our yoga program offers a gentle, supportive environment where every movement is purposeful and accessible.

Discover the Power of Gentle Movement

Yoga is more than stretching—it’s a practice of mindfulness, breath, and movement that helps us stay grounded and vibrant at any age. Studies have shown that yoga can slow down the aging process, enhance mental clarity, and support better sleep, digestion, and mood.

Our classes are tailored to meet the unique needs of older adults. You don’t need to be flexible or have any prior experience—just come as you are. You’ll be guided through slow, steady movements that:

  • Improve flexibility and range of motion
  • Enhance balance and coordination
  • Support healthy joints and bones
  • Promote relaxation and reduce stress
  • Foster a deeper connection between mind and body

Two Class Styles to Choose From

We know that everyone moves differently. That’s why we offer two gentle yoga formats, so you can choose what feels best for your body:

 Seniors Mat Yoga

A mat-based class designed for seniors who are comfortable getting up and down from the floor.
This class features slow flows, seated poses, and supported stretches to build strength and mobility.
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9:30–10:30 AM

 Chair Yoga

Ideal for those who prefer or require seated movement.
This class is performed using a chair for support, making it an excellent choice for anyone with limited mobility, arthritis, or balance concerns.
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 10:30–11:30 AM

All classes are held in the lower level at 215 Sanders Street in Kemptville.

Why Seniors Love Our Yoga Program

" My walker stays mostly in the trunk now, and I do not rely on my cane. Yoga and exercise have helped me feel more flexible and stronger, and it is a great way to socialize with a wonderful group of people under the watchful eye of our instructor.” —  Stella, SCS Participant

Here are just a few of the wellness benefits participants have shared:

  • Reduced joint pain and stiffness
  • Increased confidence in movement
  • Improved posture and breathing
  • A greater sense of calm and focus

And the best part? Every time you attend a class, you're also giving back—all proceeds support Seniors’ Community Services and help fund local programs that benefit older adults.
