The ambiance was set with yellow tablecloths, fresh flowers, and elegant three-tiered dessert and vegetable trays. Guests savored a selection of teas, including Earl Grey, morning blend, and two special herbal infusions.

The highlight of the afternoon was a presentation by Rebecca Graves, a Registered Herbalist and founder of Dancing Willow Wellness. Rebecca shared her expertise on "Herbal Teas for the Winter," demonstrating preparation methods, discussing the benefits of various herbs and spices, and offering samples for everyone to enjoy.

Dancing Willow Wellness, located in Kemptville, offers a holistic approach to health, providing services such as acupuncture, counseling, herbal medicine, holistic nutrition, hypnosis, and cupping. Their mission is to empower individuals on their wellness journeys by addressing the root causes of health concerns rather than just the symptoms.

Rebecca Graves leads the herbal medicine practice at Dancing Willow Wellness, combining traditional knowledge with modern scientific research to harness the healing properties of plants. The clinic also offers workshops and classes, including herb walks and introductions to herbal medicine, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of natural health practices.

The tea party received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with 91.67% of attendees rating their experience as excellent. Guests particularly enjoyed the tea selections, refreshments, and the opportunity to socialize and meet new people. Many expressed interests in attending similar events in the future.

We are grateful for our partnership with Dancing Willow Wellness and look forward to collaborating on more events that enrich the lives of our community members.

Keeping Your Feet Healthy!

What Does the Foot Care Clinic Offer?

  • Professional trimming of nails
  • Treatment for calluses, corns, and ingrown toenails
Healthy feet are the foundation for a healthy, active life! The Foot Care Clinic at Seniors' Community Services provides expert foot care tailored to seniors’ needs. Here’s what you need to know:

Professional Trimming of Nails

While it may seem simple to trim your toenails at home, professional nail trimming offers far more than just a cosmetic touch-up. A trained foot care professional understands the proper techniques to cut nails straight across, reducing the risk of painful ingrown toenails caused by improper trimming. Additionally, they ensure nails are cut to the appropriate length—too short or too long can lead to discomfort or fungal infections. Professional care also identifies and addresses underlying issues like thickened or discolored nails, which could indicate health problems requiring further attention.

Key Benefits:

Reduces the risk of ingrown toenails

Prevents infections caused by improper cutting

Helps manage thick or brittle nails

Early detection of potential fungal infections or nail abnormalities

Treatment for Calluses, Corns, and Ingrown Toenails

Regular walking, ill-fitting shoes, or high-impact activities can cause calluses, corns, and ingrown toenails, which lead to discomfort or even severe pain if untreated. Professional treatment offers precise care and relief.

Callus Removal: Calluses develop as a protective response to friction and pressure on the feet, but excess buildup can crack or cause irritation. Foot care specialists carefully smooth away calluses without damaging healthy skin, providing immediate comfort and restoring skin texture.

Corn Treatment: Corns are similar to calluses but often more painful due to their concentrated pressure points. Skilled removal eliminates the source of discomfort and helps prevent recurrence by advising proper footwear choices.

Ingrown Toenail Treatment: An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of a nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing redness, swelling, and sharp pain. A professional gently removes the problematic nail portion and may apply antiseptics to prevent infection. Chronic cases benefit from personalized care plans to prevent future issues.

Key Benefits:

Immediate pain relief from corns and calluses

Prevention of infection and worsening discomfort from untreated ingrown nails

Healthier, smoother feet with reduced risk of complications

Guidance on footwear choices and self-care to maintain results

Why Foot Care Matters

Improperly cared-for feet can lead to significant discomfort, mobility issues, and other health concerns.

The Benefits of Regular Visits to Our Foot Care Clinic

Taking care of your feet isn’t just about comfort—it’s about maintaining overall health and mobility.

Regular visits to our clinic provide a range of benefits that can improve your quality of life:

Relieve Pain and Treat Infections: Foot pain and infections can hinder your daily activities. Professional treatment eases discomfort and prevents minor issues from turning into more serious problems.

Improve Mobility and Agility: Healthy feet allow you to move confidently and stay active. By addressing conditions like calluses, corns, and ingrown toenails, our care helps you walk and move with ease.

Identify Potential Health Issues: Routine checkups can reveal underlying health problems, particularly important for individuals with diabetes who are at higher risk for foot complications.

Support Long-Term Foot Health: Specialized care ensures your feet stay in optimal condition, preventing recurring issues and maintaining proper foot hygiene.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

To get the most out of your visit, a little preparation goes a long way. Here’s how you can get ready:

Arrive 15 Minutes Early: This gives you time to complete any necessary forms and settle in before your appointment.

Soak and Wash Your Feet: Clean feet allow for a more effective and pleasant treatment experience.

Bring a Small Hand Towel: This will be useful for drying your feet after any cleaning or treatment.

Bring a List of Your Medications: Some foot issues may be influenced by medications you are taking, so having this information handy helps us provide the best care.

“Spending time with seniors is such a rewarding experience. We laugh, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s about so much more than just a visit—it’s about building bonds that reduce loneliness and create joy for everyone involved.”

Through Friendly Visits, Cheryl’s weekly time with her senior friend has brought laughter and emotional well-being to both their lives. It’s a reminder that small acts of kindness can ripple into big impacts.
